Orange County Surgeon Dr. Jay Harness to Speak at Breast Cancer Symposium

Dr. Jay K. Harness, a peer-recognized breast cancer surgery expert based in Orange County, California, will be speaking at the Annual Society of Breast Disease 2012 Symposium, this year hosted in Dallas, Texas.

During the Symposium this Friday, April 13, Dr. Harness will speak on the topic of Building a Multidisciplinary Team – A System to provide Continuity of Care.

He is uniquely qualified to discuss the topic of the multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer care and treatment:

As the first director of the University of Michigan Breast Care Clinic, Dr. Harness opened the first academic multidisciplinary breast care center in the United States in 1985.

Over 100 similar breast care centers have since been created in the United States.

Today, Dr. Harness cares for breast cancer surgery patients from his office in Orange County, California.

This year’s Breast Disease Symposium brings together a range of medical specialists to discuss contemporary issues and emerging science focused on breast cancer and disease prevention, risk assessment, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and patient quality of life.

Attending the American Society of Breast Disease Symposium will be medical oncologists, surgeons, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, oncology nurses, advocates, and allied professionals to discuss emerging and established approaches to breast health management within and across specialties.
